Montessori Diploma Course

Taking the child seriously and including the child’s own world into education is one of the essential elements of every educational theory. The doctor and educationalist Maria Montessori (1870-1952) developed an educational theory that is directly geared towards the child and leaves scope for its individual development.

Nowadays, Montessori Education influences the educational and teaching practice in many nursery, primary, secondary modern, comprehensive and grammar schools in almost every country. Montessori Education, which has been put to the test and has proved itself for decades, respects the child’s personality.

This educational attitude characterises the work in Montessori institutions:

• free play and free choice of work; individual ways of learning
• individual speed of learning and individually designed steps of learning
• individually adjusted number of repetitions and working time
• free choice of working partners etc.

• The Montessori Diploma Course takes four semesters and gives an introduction to the basic principles and the realisation of Montessori Education.
• The meetings take place at the weekends, approximately once or twice per month during the semester (usually from 5pm to 9pm on Fridays and from 9am to 5pm on Saturdays).
• The meetings take place at the “Montessori School Muenster” at Soester Str. 13, 48155 Münster.
• The course comprises about 270 sessions. In addition, the participants have to sit in on lessons in acknowledged Montessori institutions.
• The Montessori Diploma can be obtained by passing a written and an oral exam.
• The fee for the current Diploma Course amounted to 1850,- € for students/trainees and 1950,- € for working people (subject to alteration of prices). It is possible to pay in instalments.
