The Montessori Centre of the Institute for Educational Studies co-operates with numerous national and international partners. National partners apart from universities and colleges of education are mainly German Montessori associations and Montessori institutions. An especially intensive co-operation has existed for decades between the Montessori Centre and the “Deutsche Montessori-Vereinigung e.V., Sitz Aachen” (German Montessori Association). The most important international co-operation partners will be presented in the following. The literature indicated refers to aspects of the co-operation and their effects. Literature concerning the results of research can be found in the research reports of the University of Münster.
Loose forms of co-operation exist with Montessori educationalists from numerous other coun-tries, for example with Isidor Graorac, PhD of the Novi Sad College for Education in Yugoslavia, who spent study visits at the Montessori Centre in the summer semesters of 2002 and 2003. In the 1990s, close contacts existed to educationalists of the University of Riga in Latvia (Prof. Klaus Altermann, PhD). Works by Prof. Holtstiege were translated into Latvian. In 1998, Prof. Ludwig was involved in a congress on Jena-Plan-Education and New Education in Riga.
On account of the international renown of Montessori Education at the University of Münster, this university has, for a long time, been the destination of shorter or longer study visits of persons who are particularly interested in Montessori Education. Thus, individual guests or groups of people from different countries visited the Montessori Centre recently, apart from the countries that have already been mentioned also from Jordan, Chile, Italy, Lithuania and the USA. As regards the USA, there are work relations in particular with the German American Peter Gebhardt-Seele, PhD (Rockville/Munich) and Ms Hildegard Solzbacher.
